County cases rise to 5,892

DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 5,892.

Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 976 are younger than 19, 1,405 are in their 20s, 860 are in their 30s, 858 are in their 40s, 768 are in their 50s, 502 are in their 60s, 272 are in their 70s and 251 are 80 or older.

As of Friday, 56 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.

At DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 2600 N. Annie Glidden Road., 29 staff members and three residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

At Oak Crest-DeKalb Area Retirement Center, 2944 Greenwood Acres Drive, 24 staff members and 27 residents are COVID-19 positive. As of Friday, one Oak Crest resident has died from COVID-19.

At Prarie Crossing Living & Rehabilitation Center, 409 W. Comanche Ave., 22 staff members and 48 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, two Prarie Crossing residents have died from COVID-19.

At Bethany Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, 3298 Resource Parkway, 28 staff members and 23 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, one resident has died from COVID-19.

At Heritage Woods of DeKalb, 2626 N. Annie Glidden Road, five staff members and two residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

Statewide, there are 832,951 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14,050 recorded deaths as of 5:00 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
