DeKALB — The men’s tennis team remains undefeated Friday at 4-0 after a 7-0 win against the Creighton Bluejays on the road at Hanscom Tennis Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Huskies started the day with doubles matchups at all three positions. In doubles at three, sophomore Oliver Valentinsson and first-year Luke VanDonslear also came out with a 7-5 win against first-year Shin Inoue and senior Mac Mease.

NIU’s only loss of the day was in doubles at two where senior Bor Schweiger Muzar and first-year Mikael Vollbach fell 6-4 in a close battle against first-year Matthew Lanahan and senior Jose Oscar Diaz.

Malinen won the first singles match of the day, winning 6-2 and 6-0, shortly followed by Valentinsson who won 6-2 and 6-3. Muzar then won his sets 6-3 and 6-2. Vollbach won the next singles match with 6-4 and 6-3 victories. Redshirt junior Kristopher Ortega then won both of his sets at 6-4 and 6-2.

All of the singles matchups were swept by the Huskies, aside from Spolidorio’s match needing to go into a tiebreaker. Spolidorio defeated Inoue 10-3 in the tiebreaker set after winning the first set 6-3 and losing the second set 6-7. This finished off the matchup between these two teams.
