8 more students test positive for COVID-19, 12 students recover

As of Thursday, two students and no employees are currently COVID-19 positive.

DeKALB — NIU announced Monday that eight additional students and no employees have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 12 students have recovered, according to the Campus COVID-19 Dashboard. As of Monday, 27 students and five employees are currently COVID-19 positive.

The dashboard’s cumulative testing statistics show a total of 724 Huskies that have tested positive for COVID-19, and 692 have recovered.

As of Monday at 3 p.m., NIU is at a 4.3% quarantine and isolation use, a 1.2% decrease from Friday.

Surveillance testing 

NIU administered 2,134 COVID-19 tests during the week of Feb. 1 for surveillance testing. The positivity rate was 0.75%, with 16 recorded positive results, according to surveillance testing data.

Surveillance testing data is updated on the dashboard website every Monday, or on a Tuesday if a holiday falls on a Monday.
