Women’s track and field has big weekend in Allendale
Huskies win three events

DeKALB — The women’s track and field team won three events Saturday at Grand Valley State University at the GVSU Snowdown Showdown in Allendale, Michigan.
In the 400-meter dash, the Huskies took three out of four of the top spots. Sophomore Jahnetta Jones came in first place with a time of 56.28 seconds. First-year Kennedy Crawford came in a close second with a time of 56.77 seconds. Junior Kaitlyn Lewis finished with a time of 57.08 seconds to finish in fourth place.
The Huskies scored two of the top four spots in the 200-meter dash. Jones won her second event with a time of 24.76 seconds, and first-year Skylynn Blue came in a close fourth place with a time of 25.35 seconds.
Junior Jazmyn Smith led the Huskies to the last win of the day in the long jump. Smith won with a mark of 5.70 meters. First-year Scout Regular finished fifth for the event with a mark of 5.33 meters.
The 800-meter run was another spectacular event for the Huskies as they took three spots in the top five. Junior Victoria Robinson finished third with a time of 2:14.01. Taking a close fourth in the event was senior Nora Finegan with a time of 2:14.99. Sophomore Brooke Lytle took the last spot in the top five with a time of 2:15.28.
Junior Diamond Riley recorded the second-best distance with a total of 11.60 meters to finish second in the triple jump.
The next track and field meet for the Huskies will be Friday in Allendale, Michigan for the GVSU Big Meet.
