February 9, 2021
DeKALB — The DeKalb County Community Gardens and the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers are partnering up to provide the community with free tax preparation services at the Genoa Area Community Food Hub, 415 W. Main St., Genoa.
The free tax preparation service is open to the public and has no age or income restrictions, according to a Tuesday news release from the DeKalb County Community Gardens. People who want this service are required to bring their photo ID, social security card and 2020 tax documents.
All tax preparation help is made by appointment only, beginning Friday to April 10 on Fridays and Saturdays, according to the release. To make an appointment, call (815) 751-5826.
“This year we are focusing our community programming on seven different areas: human services, financial health, health, food, home life, entrepreneurship, and education,” said Haleigh Hunger,Genoa Area Community Food Hub director. “Many of us file taxes so it makes perfect sense to bring free tax preparation to address financial health.”
