DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 8,197.

Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 1,368 are younger than 19, 1,913 are in their 20s, 1,228 are in their 30s, 1,162 are in their 40s, 1,038 are in their 50s, 704 are in their 60s, 401 are in their 70s and 383 are 80 or older.

As of Friday, 106 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.

DeKalb County has administered 11,168 vaccines as of Friday, 2.4% of the county population is fully vaccinated, according to state vaccine data.

At DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 2600 N. Annie Glidden Road., 74 staff members and 53 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, 10 DeKalb County Rehabilitation residents have died from COVID-19.

At Oak Crest-DeKalb Area Retirement Center, 2944 Greenwood Acres Drive, 31 staff members and 32 residents are COVID-19 positive. As of Friday, one Oak Crest resident has died from COVID-19.

At Bethany Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, 3298 Resource Parkway, 47 staff members and 63 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, 10 residents have died from COVID-19.

Statewide, there are 1.2 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 19,873 recorded deaths as of 5 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The state has fully vaccinated 374,722 residents as of Friday, 2.94% of the state population.
