County cases rise to 8,520

DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 8,520.
Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 1,416 are younger than 19, 2,000 are in their 20s, 1,274 are in their 30s, 1,199 are in their 40s, 1,077 are in their 50s, 742 are in their 60s, 424 are in their 70s and 388 are 80 or older.
As of Friday, 113 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.
DeKalb County has administered 19,369 vaccines as of Friday, and 6,236 county residents are fully vaccinated, 5.99% of the county population, according to state vaccine data.
At DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 2600 N. Annie Glidden Road., 75 staff members and 53 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, 12 DeKalb County Rehabilitation residents have died from COVID-19.
Statewide, there are 1.19 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 20,700 recorded deaths as of 5 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The state has fully vaccinated 1,019,685 residents as of Friday, 8% of the state population.
