DeKALB — Senior Ashley Tutt earned Second Team All-American honors Friday as she finished 13th in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:19.42 at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

At the beginning of the race, Tutt ran her way into the top-five at the one-kilometer mark. Continuing her way up, she moved up to fourth place at the two-kilometer mark. Tutt was seeded 15th at the start of the race and outscored her seed by two positions with her 13th place finish.

Tutt is only the second person in NIU history to make All-American for indoor track and field, following Jehvania Whyte who earned First Team All-American Honors in 2018 with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump.

Tutt will have her next NCAA Championships double 11:50 CST Monday  at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The women’s six-kilometer race will be on ESPNU.
