Men’s tennis remains undefeated in MAC play

DeKALB — A 6-1 victory over the University at Buffalo Bulls Friday moves the men’s tennis team to 14-1 on the season, with a 3-0 record in the Mid-American Conference. 

The Huskies won five singles matches and two doubles matches in the contest. Sophomore Oliver Valentinsson and first-year Mikael Vollbach each secured their 13th singles win of the season. 

Senior Bor Schweiger Muzar and Vollbach were paired at number one for doubles and scored a 6-2 victory over the Bulls. Redshirt junior Kristopher Ortega and Valentinsson gave the Huskies the other doubles win, winning the match 6-3 as they gave the Huskies the first point for the day. 

Valentinsson was the only Huskie that went into a three-set match with 5-7, 6-3 and 6-3 sets. This was his ninth consecutive singles match win. 

Losing just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 set, Vollbach maintained his 13-0 record. Muzar only lost three games as he won his singles match 6-2, 6-1. 

The next match for the Huskies will be at noonSunday against the Binghamton University Bearcats at DeKalb High School.
