Candidate profile: City clerk
April 1, 2021
The following is the response to a Northern Star questionnaire sent to local candidates for the 2021 consolidated election. Answers have been lightly edited for clarity and consistency.
Name: Sasha Cohen
Occupation: Political Director of the Vermin Supreme Institute
Education: Kishwaukee College
Related experience: 2 years of political and community organizing across 5 states.
Why are you running for the position:
The city clerk position is the bridge between the people and their local government. I wish to serve my community by being the watchdog of government and to make transparency a cornerstone of the DeKalb city government.
Goals you want to accomplish if elected:
I want to move to Dekalb, IL to ranked-choice voting.
Why students/residents should vote for you:
I am willing to fight for the people of this city, and not the insiders who have participated in the crumbling of our democracy at every level of government.
