DeKALB – For many college seniors at the university, April 22 marks not only the last day of the classes this semester but the last day of school for the rest of their lives. Graduating from college is a huge step forward in a person’s life, and there are many smaller steps seniors have to take first.

Seniors must make sure they send NIU Records and Registration all paperwork, including grade changes, resolution of incomplete grades, course substitutions and waivers, and transcripts from other schools by May 21, according to an NIU email.

In addition to this, students must contact their department office for any defiances in major, minor or general education classes. Seniors also need to make sure that all their academic requirements are met, 120 credit hours with 40 of those being in upper-level classes. It is important to remember that at least 30 hours must be taken through NIU, regardless of transfer hours.

In order to walk at graduation, seniors will need a cap and gown. These can be ordered through Oak Hall Cap & Gown. The deadline for orders is May 20.
