DeKALB – Mike Verbic leads in re-election for DeKalb 6th Ward Alderperson by 155 votes, while mail-in ballots still need to be counted.

Verbic first ran for Sixth Ward Alderperson in 2017. Verbic remained unopposed in the April 6 election and will hold his seat for the next four years. 

In addition to his duties as an alderperson, Verbic is also the chief broadcast engineer at NIU. 

Verbic does not believe taxes or fees should be raised in DeKalb. He says that transparent government involves engaging the public in their priorities and government staff being responsive to requests, according to a candidate questionnaire.
