Larson leads race for Second Ward seat

DeKALB – Barb Larson leads the Ward 2 Alderperson seat for the City of DeKalb after receiving 45.8% of votes in the 2021 consolidated elections, while mail-in ballots still need to be counted.
Larson leads the election with 415 votes at the time of publication, according to the DeKalb County election site. Ward 2 candidates J.J. Wett and Wesley Hoadley trailed with 298 votes and 193 votes respectively at the time of publication.
Larson currently works as a payroll and bookkeeper for Larson Farms cattle operation. In the past, she’s worked at the DeKalb Bank, Northern FS at Hinckley, NIU University Programming and Activities and more.
Larson, who is an NIU alumna, said she believes DeKalb has great potential and sees and feels the momentum moving in the community forward and wants to help ensure that this happens.
“I want our community to look at each other, whether we agree or disagree, to know that we all want DeKalb to prosper,” Larson said while campaigning.
