County cases rise to 9,416

DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 9,416.
Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 1,612 are younger than 19, 2,266 are in their 20s, 1,408 are in their 30s, 1,315 are in their 40s, 1,179 are in their 50s, 797 are in their 60s, 437 are in their 70s and 402 are 80 or older.
As of Friday, 116 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.
DeKalb County has administered 53,868 vaccines as of Friday, and 20,703 county residents are fully vaccinated, 19.8% of the county population, according to state vaccine data.
Statewide, there are 1.2 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 21,630 recorded deaths as of 5 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The state has fully vaccinated 3.1 million residents as of Friday, 24.9% of the state population.
