County cases rise to 9,694

DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 9,694.

Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 1,696 are younger than 19, 2,347 are in their 20s, 1,456 are in their 30s, 1,336 are in their 40s, 1,198 are in their 50s, 813 are in their 60s, 440 are in their 70s and 408 are 80 or older.

As of Friday, 116 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.

DeKalb County has administered 59,433 vaccines as of Friday, and 23,663 county residents are fully vaccinated, 22.7% of the county population, according to state vaccine data.

Statewide, there are 1.3 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 21,777 recorded deaths as of 5 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The state has fully vaccinated 3.6 million residents as of Friday, 28.6% of the state population.
