County cases rise to 9,885

DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 9,885.
Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 1,752 are younger than 19, 2,401 are in their 20s, 1,481 are in their 30s, 1,358 are in their 40s, 1,220 are in their 50s, 821 are in their 60s, 443 are in their 70s and 409 are 80 or older.
As of Friday, 117 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.
DeKalb County has administered 65,259 vaccines as of Friday, and 27,058 county residents are fully vaccinated, 26% of the county population, according to state vaccine data.
Statewide, there are 1.3 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 21,960 recorded deaths as of 5 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The state has fully vaccinated 4 million residents as of Friday, 31.6% of the state population.
