DeKALB – NIU announced Monday two positive COVID-19 cases, according to the Campus COVID-19 Dashboard. As of Monday, two Huskies are currently COVID-19 positive.

Starting May 3, employees who aren’t vaccinated and work on campus in Housing and Residential Services, Campus Dining Services, the Child Development and Family Center, Human Resource Services and the Holmes Student Center are required to take a weekly surveillance test during the summer.

NIU administered 144 COVID-19 tests during the week of May 3 for surveillance testing. The positivity rate was 0.7%, with one recorded positive result, according to surveillance testing data.

During the summer, students and faculty with in-person classes who aren’t vaccinated will also be required to participate in surveillance testing. Surveillance testing is also available on a voluntary basis to any NIU student or employee who would like to be regularly tested.

Testing takes place Mondays and Thursdays, and the dashboard is updated every Monday.
