SYCAMORE – Enjoy a night of “Skating into Summer” at the Kishwaukee Family YMCA from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. Saturday.

This will be the last roller skating event of the season, which will resume this fall.

According to the Kishwaukee Family YMCA website, all people of all skill levels are welcome. Tickets are $2 for members, $5 for program participants and free for family membership holders. The YMCA, 2500 W. Bethany Road, will have skates for rent for $2 per person. Pre-registration is recommended as events are limited to 50 participants. Masks are required for those who are unvaccinated, while those who are fully vaccinated can attend without masks.

“As an organization that is about serving families, whether they are members here at the YMCA or members of our community, our skating events are a really great way for families to come together and connect,” said Heather Dunker, the marketing and communications director for the Kishwaukee Family YMCA.

The Kishwaukee Family YMCA is charitable and aims to promote “caring, honesty, respect and responsibility,” according to the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce website. The next notable event happening at the Kishwaukee Family YMCA will be the summer carnival in August.

“I think roller skating is a fun thing to do for all ages, whether you’re just learning how to skate or if you’re kind of reminiscing about when you were a kid and learned to skate,” Dunker said. “It’s just a fun activity for all ages and it’s a great opportunity to get out and get active.”
