Former NIU guard Eugene German joins team in Greece

DeKALB — After a stint in the NBA Summer League, former NIU guard and all-time men’s basketball leading scorer Eugene German will join the Ionikos Nikaias Basketball Club in Greece.

The Gary, Indiana native German announced the move to Ionkios Nikaias of the Greek Basket League, the top-tier league of basketball in Greece, Friday morning on Twitter .

“God’s plan baby,” German wrote. “Let’s turn up in Athens, Greece!”

German had made one appearance for the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Summer League, logging four minutes and recording one point and one steal in a game Tuesday against the Boston Celtics. German didn’t play in the Nuggets game Thursday against the Phoenix Suns.
