Monday
- Genesis Technologies Barsema Hall Meet and Greet Table: Genesis Technologies will host a Meet and Greet table. They will be recruiting students interested in pursuing sales careers at 10 a.m. at Barsema Hall, Atrium.
- Managing Remotely: Employee Assistance Program will discuss ways to assist supervisors in managing employees working from home, maintaining contact with team members, and ways to keep all team members engaged if employees are on hybrid schedules. The virtual event will be at 2 p.m. Registration is required.
- Developing a Great LinkedIn Profile: Career Services will host a LinkedIn workshop via Microsoft Teams at 4 p.m.
- General Meeting – Black Male Initiative: This will be a general meeting for the members of Black Male Initiative which will meet at 4:30 p.m. in the Campus Life Building.
- Homecoming Safety: Learn about how to be safe during homecoming at 4:30 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center, University Suite.
- Digital Marketing and Professional Sales Talent Night: The NIU Marketing Department presents the Digital Marketing and Professional Sales Talent Night. This event will host more than 30 firms looking to recruit students for entry-level positions. It will be at 5 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center, Duke Ellington Ballroom.
- Marketing Student Advisory Board (MSAB) Meeting: This is a virtual event at 5 p.m. Contact Emily Cronauer at [email protected] for more information.
- Banderas y Color: Painting flags, hosted by Latino Student Alliance at 5:30 p.m. at the Latino Center, Computer Lab.
- Study with NPHC: The National Pan-Hellenic Council will be studying at 7 p.m. in the Founders Memorial Library, third floor.
Tuesday
- Domestic Violence Awareness Month Table Time: Stop by to support survivors. This event will be at 10 a.m. in the MLK Commons.
- Engineering Job & Internship Fair: There is no registration necessary and no fees to participate. Just bring your resumes and dress to impress. The event will be at 10:30 a.m. at Altgeld Hall.
- COE Tailgate Tuesday: Kick off NIU’s Homecoming week at the College of Education Tailgate event! The event will be at 11 a.m. outside on the Anderson Hall lawn.
- Certainty in Uncertain Times: This presentation is intended to be a discussion about what are typical thoughts and feelings that you may be experiencing and deciphering what the certainties are that lie ahead. The event will be at 1 p.m.
- Annual Passport Kermes: This event aims to bring awareness towards Hispanic Heritage Month. It will be at 2:30 p.m. at Campus Life Building
- Search for Your Future: Finding Internship & Job Openings: This workshop focuses on how to prepare for and search for internships and jobs. The workshop will be at 3 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
- Bike Service at the Adventure Center: Having bike troubles? Stop by and see what we can do to help you out and get you rolling again. This will be at the Student Recreation Center, Adventure Center at 4 p.m.
- Interviewing: The Essentials: Learn to prepare for internship and job interviews by attending this program. The event will be at 4 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
- Fulbright Teacher Exchange Encounter: Meet and greet with faculty, staff and students at 5 p.m. outside of the Latino Center.
- 2nd Annual NIU LGBTQ+ Alumni and Friends Homecoming Virtual Social: Gender and Sexuality Resource Center will host its second LGBTQ+ Alumni and Friends social at 6:30 p.m. virtually via Zoom. Register here.
- 14th Annual Kermes: Food, Fun, Games, hosted by Alpha Sigma Omega and Kappa Pi Beta at 7 p.m. at Campus Life Building, Suite 100.
- Finance Investment Intro: Students from across the campus can come and learn about finance and the stock market. The event will be at 7:30 p.m. at Barsema Hall, Room 301.
Wednesday
- Innovation Hours: This is your chance to meet with the Innovation Team and get personalized support for your innovation ideas and projects no matter the stage. The event will be at 9 a.m. at Founders Memorial Library, 71 North Partnership Studio.
- International Admissions Virtual Chat Sessions: Attend a chat to ask your questions about the admission and application process for international students, academic programs, scholarships and any other questions. The 9 a.m. via Zoom, register here.
- 29th Annual Study Abroad Fair: This is your chance to learn all about the international academic opportunities available to NIU students. The event will be at 11 a.m. at the Holmes Student Center, Duke Ellington Ballroom.
- Career Help Desk at Founders Memorial Library: Stop by the Career Help Desk and talk with one of our friendly Career Advisors. This event will be at 11 a.m. at the Founders Memorial Library.
- Paint Your Paw: Paint a customized paw print on canvas at 12 p.m. at the MLK Commons.
- Marketing Yourself: Showcasing Your Skills for Employers (formerly – Resume Writing): The first hour of the workshop will be the résumé writing overview, the last half hour will be for Q&A. The virtual event will be at 2 p.m., register here
- Huskie Link Overview: Come join Alex Pitner as he does an overview on how to navigate and use Huskie Link. The event will be virtual at 2:30 p.m., join stream here
- Intuitive Eating Workshop: Take back your joy of eating and learn strategies to heal your relationship with food and your body at this 3 p.m. event at the Student Recreation Center.
- NIU Communiversity Gardens – Weeding Wednesdays: Join to volunteer this fall on Wednesdays through October 27 anytime between 3-5 p.m. at Anderson Hall, NIU Communiverstiy Gardens to help with weeding and preparing the gardens for winter rest. Registration is required.
- Outdoor Adventures: Hourly Lagoon Boat Rentals: Students can rent a boat for an hour from 4-7 p.m. at East Lagoon. The price is $5 for NIU students, $10 for non-students.
- Professionalism Workshop: Career Fair prep, resume workshop and elevator speech at 4 p.m. in the Latino Center.
- Using LinkedIn Every Day: Learn the 5 tasks you should do on LinkedIn every day to take advantage of this amazing platform for your career success. This event will be at 4 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
- Representing Refugee Experience: What’s at Stake: NIU History Department will moderate a discussion regarding refugee identity and image. The event will be at 5 p.m. via Zoom.
- Resume Writing: The Essentials: Learn the essentials of a good resume, along with effective ways to communicate your value to employers at this 5 p.m. workshop via Microsoft Teams.
- NIU Autism Caregiver Group Visits Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association: Join the Autism Caregiver Group at Hopkins Park to learn about the local services they can offer our members. The event will be at 5:30 p.m. at Hopkins Park. Email Allison Gladfelter at [email protected] to RSVP.
- OM&IS Meet the Firm Night: Students will get to know companies that have hired OM&IS students in the past. The event will be at 6 p.m., join stream here.
- Late Night Movie: Join for a movie showing of “Hairspray” (2007) at 8 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center, Carl Sandburg Auditorium.
Thursday

- Love Labyrinth: Navigating Relationships: Navigating Relationships workshop will help people understand the signs of emotional abuse and the controlling and threatening behavior patterns that can show up in everyday situations. The workshop will be at 1 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center, University Suite. Register here.
- CODE 4: This workshop aims to immerse dedicated individuals with the lifelong dedication necessary for social justice work. The event will be at 2 p.m. via Zoom. Registration required.

- Breaking Barriers Kick-Off: Breaking Barriers’ is a meeting group designed to provide support, mentoring, and professional development to first-generation college students. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Campus Life Building, Suite 100.
Friday
- Conversation with the Provost: Executive Vice President and Provost Ingram invites you to join her for an open conversation with fellow Huskies. This event will be at 11 a.m. at Gabel Hall, Room 146.
- Resume Writing: The Essentials: Learn the essentials of a good resume, along with effective ways to communicate your value to employers at this 12 p.m. workshop via Microsoft Teams.
- Huskies, Get Hired!: Master the Huskies Get Hired (HGH) online system to find openings for on campus employment, off campus part-time jobs, internships, and jobs for after college. The event will be at 2 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
- Free Fitness Friday – Rec Group Fitness: Join every Friday for a Free Group Fitness class at 4:30 p.m. Sign up online to attend.
- First Friday Bingo: All students are welcome to come play bingo every first Friday of the month to win prizes. The event will be at 6 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center, Club 1895, Lower Den.
- Black Alumni The Return: Sip N Bowl: Sip N Bowl will have music, billiards and spades at 7 p.m. at the Four Seasons Bowl. Register here.
- “Kernel of Sanity” – presented by NIU School of Theatre and Dance: This play will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Stevens Building, Sally Stevens Players Theatre. The cost is $7 for non-students and is free for students who pre-register.
- A Night at Holmes: Come to the Holmes Student Center for a full night of fun, music, games and prizes. The event will be at 8 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center, Lower Den, Ground Floor, Main Floor.
- Outdoor Adventures: Campfire Series: Join NIU Outdoor Adventures for a Friday night campfire. The event will be at 8 p.m. at West Lagoon.
- D9 & Park! NIU’s Top 9: This will be an on campus late night party hosted by NPHC. The theme is 106 & Park 2000s era. The event will be at 10 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center.
