SYCAMORE – Sycamore’s annual Creepy Campfire will commence on Oct. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Sycamore Park District’s GoodTymes shelter off Airport Road.

The event is sponsored by the Sycamore Library and hosted by the Sycamore Park District in light of Halloween festivities and aims to celebrate the Halloween season. All funds from the event go towards the library, said Kelsey Racine, librarian at Sycamore Library.

“The s’mores are a favorite of the event,” Racine said.

The Creepy Campfire is a 21 and older event where snacks and beverages like s’mores and hot chocolate can be enjoyed around the fireplace while listening to scary stories.

“It’s kind of nice to have an adults-only social event that people can come to,” Racine said.

S’mores and one cup of hot chocolate will be provided free of charge, and additional s’mores and alcoholic beverages such as hot toddies will also be available for purchase at the event, according to the event website.

“Especially with lockdown and everything, it was hard to get out, so this event seems like fresh air,” Racine said.

Information about the event can be found on the Sycamore Library website. Registration can be done through SPL’s Eventbrite, or by calling the Park District at 815-895-3365.

There is no entrance fee, and the event closes after 50 people are registered for the event.
