DeKalb County reports 48.8% of residents are vaccinated

DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 12,610 and 51,868 county residents are fully vaccinated, 49.80% of the county population.

Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 2,517 are younger than 19, 2,996 are in their 20s, 1,919 are in their 30s, 1,675 are in their 40s, 1,500 are in their 50s, 1,032 are in their 60s, 522 are in their 70s and 449 are 80 or older.

As of Friday, 134 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.

Statewide, there are 1.6 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 25,771 recorded deaths as of Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The state has fully vaccinated 6.8 million residents as of Friday, 63.5% of the state population.
