Georgia Southern holds off Louisiana-Monroe late, wins 67-65

MONROE, La. (AP) — Quan Jackson hit three 3-pointers down the stretch and scored 26 points to help Georgia Southern hold off Louisiana-Monroe, 67-65 on Thursday night.
Josh Nicholas got off a shot from mid-court that was a touch too strong as time expired for the Warhawks, who cut a 15-point deficit down a field goal in the closing seconds. ULM’s losing streak now stands at nine straight.
Jackson scored 20 of his points in the second half for the Eagles (14-10, 8-5 Sun Belt) and topped the 20-point mark for the third straight game. Ike Smith added 15 points, Simeon Carter had 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Isaiah Crawley contributed 10 points.
Michael Ertel finished with 30 points to lead ULM (6-16, 2-11) and sparked the Warhawks’ second-half comeback by scoring 10 points in a 12-0 run that cut the lead to 52-47 with 8:04 to play. Erie Olonade added 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench and Tyree White added 10.
Georgia Southern plays at Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday night. ULM plays host to Georgia State Saturday afternoon.
