Batsmen drop to 3-5

A three-run first inning wasn’t enough as the NIU baseball squad dropped a 4-3, 11-inning decision to Tennessee Tech Sunday at Cookville, Tenn.

The Huskies were within three outs of downing TTU and evening their season mark. However, the Golden Eagles tied the score in the bottom of the ninth inning and went on to drop NIU’s season mark to 3-5.

Brent Horlock turned in a strong six innings, but the NIU bullpen couldn’t hold the lead.

The Huskies return to action today at Normal when they battle the Illinois State Redbirds in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
