DeKALB—  NIU’s SHIELD COVID-19 testing sites will reopen on Friday after all testing locations throughout the state were closed Thursday due to weather and concern over tests being backlogged due to lab closures. 

The Holmes Student Center testing location will return to its normal Friday hours of 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. You may walk in for a test if no appointments are available in the scheduling system. Sick-only testing will take place at the Student Health Center from 8 to 11:30 a.m and 1 to 3:30 p.m.

If you tested Thursday morning prior to the site being closed, your sample will not be processed.  

Students or faculty who are required to test this week and didn’t, will not need to submit a temporary exemption request, and do not need to make up this week’s test. Warnings for non-compliance will not be issued this week.
