With spring right around the corner, you could be experiencing some cabin fever. If you’re among the people looking for something to do other than sit on the couch and watch the snow fall, here are some ideas on what to do this Saturday in DeKalb.

Skating at Fargo Skatepark

Start your Saturday morning off with a skate session at the Fargo Skatepark, 641 East Lincoln Highway. Take bus 16 to get dropped off at the corner of 7th Street. This huge indoor skatepark offers a beginners only session Saturday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to noon. If you don’t have a skateboard, no problem. Fargo rents out boards to use during your session. Skate sessions cost $15 if you book online or $20 if you just walk in, according to Fargo Skatepark’s website. Skateboarding can be a great form of cardio without the thought of running on a treadmill or the monthly subscription for a gym membership.

Grab a snack at Barb City Bagels

After your skate sesh, get some grub at Barb City Bagels, 118 East Lincoln Highway, making it a short walk down the street from the skatepark. They offer a huge variety of bagels and also offer a 10% discount if you come in with a student ID. Barb City Bagels is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, according to the company’s website. After a workout like skateboarding, fueling your body with carbs and protein is a must. It’s also a good idea to load up on nutrients if you plan on going out later in the day. Barb City Bagels offers a lot of healthy options, including gluten free options. They also offer coffee, and desserts if you’re just waking up and looking for a new breakfast spot.

Live music at Fatty’s Pub and Grille

This Saturday, Fatty’s Pub and Grille, 1312 West Lincoln Highway, is having their annual Mardi Gras party. They will be having live music from 9 p.m. to midnight. The band Rockin Moxie will be performing and covering artists like The Killers, Tom Petty and The Black Keys, according to the event page

If you’re not into live music, cheer on the track and field team. This Saturday is the 2022 mid-American indoor track and field championship. The championship is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. do 6:30 p.m. Tune into the live video on the NIU website.

Make sure you don’t burn yourself out on Saturday so you have energy to do things on Sunday. Have a good weekend!
