Japanese animation is becoming more popular than it has ever been and with that popularity comes an increase in fans. Coming up with gift ideas to give to someone who is an anime fan may seem like a daunting task, especially if you happen to be unfamiliar with the art form. Here are five gifts perfect to give an anime fan.

1. Posters

Posters are a go-to when it comes to gifts to give someone who enjoys anime. Ranging from $5 to $15, you can find them in big box stores like Walmart. Posters have a wide variety of designs and characters you can buy. Depending on your budget you can buy them in bulk and they make for a great inexpensive gift that you can rely on if you find yourself in a pinch. You can even buy them directly from the anime production company themselves. Studio Ghibli sells posters from their films on Ghibli Store.

This is also a great gift idea if the person you are shopping for lives in an apartment or dorm.

“Posters for me are (an) inexpensive way to decorate my room,” said Stacey Evans, a sophomore English major.

2. Anime streetwear

If the person you’re shopping for is into streetwear, anime-themed clothing would be perfect for a birthday gift. There are a variety of items in different colors and sizes and some shops offer customization. Being able to re-wear these items gives the individual a chance to express and share their interests with others. Stores that sell them include Uniqlo, Hypland and even outlet stores like Spencers.

3. Manga box set

Manga is usually the source material for an anime, and in a lot of cases, is way ahead of the adaptation when it comes to content.

A manga box set is a collection of manga volumes in one box and is often the best way to catch up on back issues in large quantities. It is often the most cost-efficient way to read a long series. Manga box sets can be found in comic book shops and online department stores. If you’re in the DeKalb area and want to shop local, check out Graham Crackers Comics, 901 Lucinda Avenue Unit C.

4. Peeker stickers

Peeker stickers are tiny stickers of various anime characters and are a fun and cute way to spice up your everyday objects such as laptops or desk items. They are affordable and inexpensive. Buying them in bulk is relatively easy to do on Amazon and definitely comes in handy for any last-minute gifts.

5. Figurines

Figurines can be one of the most expressive forms of art that you can purchase for an anime fan. Figurines typically range from $30 to $100. There’s limitless potential with figurines and given the wide range of makers and distributors there’s guaranteed to be one that someone likes in particular. Some sites such as Ukiyo Kumo Premium Figure Imports specialize in figurines.
