If you’ve spent your time over spring break binging everything on your list of TV shows and movies to watch, here are some ideas of what you should try next and what some of us at the Northern Star will be enjoying this weekend.

10 Things I Hate About You (Disney+)

“10 Things I Hate About You” is one of my favorite romantic comedies of all time. The 1999 film stars Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Larisa Oleynik.

Kat, played by Julia Stiles, is an older sister to Bianca, played by Larisa Oleynik. Bianca is popular and nice, while Kat comes off as intimidating and makes it clear that she isn’t too interested in dating anyone while in school. When Bianca wants to date someone, things become complicated because their dad set a rule stating that Bianca wouldn’t be able to date until Kat has a boyfriend herself. Patrick, played by Heath Ledger, is then bribed into pursuing Kat, but soon develops feelings for her.

If you’re looking for a feel-good romantic comedy, this is a perfect pick. – Madelaine Vikse, Lifestyle Editor

Arrow (Netflix)

“Arrow” has to be up there with one of the best superhero TV shows that have come out in the last 10 years. The show was created back in 2012 at the height of all superhero movies, so it got lost in the shuffle with movies like “The Avengers,” “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “The Dark Knight Rises. However, it soon became one of the best and most grounded superhero shows to come out.

The story revolves around billionaire Oliver Queen, played by Stephen Amell, who disappears and is presumed dead for five years after a boating accident kills all members on board including his dad. Throughout the story, we learn of a darker past that his family holds in connection with his hometown of Starling City.

Oliver returns home with a vengeance ready to right his family’s wrong-doings as a masked vigilante known as the “Green Arrow.”

This show contains amazing story-telling and acting from many characters that will get you hooked instantly. With eight seasons already being released, it’s a perfect binge-worthy show to start this weekend. – Waleed Alamleh, Sports Reporter
