Officials deny move

Officials from both NIU and the University of Notre Dame deny a Chicago Sun-Times report concerning the status of their women’s basketball coaches.
In Friday’s edition, it was stated by writer Toni Ginnetti that Notre Dame head coach Muffet McGraw “could be in trouble” and “the name of Northern Illinois’ Jane Albright-Dieterle … is being whispered in South Bend,” as a possible successor to McGraw.
“There’s absolutely no foundation for the story,” Notre Dame sports information director John Heisler said. “There’s no attribution. There’s been no talk about her (Albright-Dieterle), and there’s no need for it.”
NIU assistant sports information director Kari Brackett said,
“Albright-Dieterle has no clue (as to why it was reported).”
