DeKalb Police: Shooting on Ridge Drive results in one dead
DeKALB — An 18-year-old unidentified male has died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head on Wednesday, according to the DeKalb Police Department.
The incident occurred off campus at 4:24 p.m. at 919 Ridge Drive. At 4:26 p.m. An officer on the scene began to administer CPR to the victim and the scene was secured around 4:28 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Jason Leverton confirmed.
25-year-old Michael Howard was arrested and has been charged with first-degree murder. The incident is believed to have been targeted, as the individuals knew each other, Leverton said.
The police department urged individuals to avoid the area for the next two hours after the shooting occurred, according to a Facebook post.
The victim’s identity is unknown at this time.
Another shooting occurred at 9:30 p.m. Monday in the 800-block of South 8th Street.
A 13-year-old boy and 14-year-old boy, for Monday’s shooting, have been arrested and formal charges are pending.
The victim, an 18-year-old unidentified male, sustained a gunshot wound to the back and is recovering from his injuries.
