Even while on the decline, gas prices this Thanksgiving will be the highest ever recorded.

The average gasoline prices in Illinois have fallen by 10.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.14 per gallon according to GasBuddy. Gasoline prices in Illinois are 51.5 cents per gallon lower than gasoline prices a month ago, but 87.5 cents per gallon higher compared to prices a year ago. 

The cheapest station in Illinois was priced at $3.45 per gallon on Sunday. The most expensive station was priced at $5.87 per gallon, with a difference of $2.42 between the two stations. 

The national average price of gasoline has fallen by 5 cents per gallon, averaging $3.81 per gallon. The national average is down 39.8 cents per gallon, but is 69.1 cents per gallon higher than prices a year ago. As for diesel prices, the national average has risen by 7.3 cents per gallon in the last week and prices stand at $5.04 per gallon according to data collected by GasBuddy. GasBuddy data covers over 150,000 gas stations across the country.
