DeKALB — The Student Government Association appointed two new senators on Friday, along with a new director of diversity, equity and inclusion, and an existing senator appointed to the position of clerk.

First-year Alexia Musgraves, sophomore Princess Rogers and junior Olivia Newman (pictured above) were sworn in as the newest members of NIU’s Student Government Association.

Musgraves and Rogers were appointed to the positions of senators; Newman was appointed to the position of director of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Senator Debbie Allen was appointed to the position of clerk in the senate, an administrative role that follows the Speaker closely. According to the SGA bylaws, duties of the clerk include maintaining senate records, maintaining order among the branches of the SGA and being the custodian of the SGA bylaws.

The four who were appointed gave brief presentations before the senate and the public, expressing excitement and privilege for their new respective roles.
