Weekly Gas Update: Sept. 26

In the past week, gas prices have gotten more expensive, having risen 2.1 cents per gallon in Illinois, according to GasBuddy.
GasBuddy reported cheapest gas in Illinois on Sept. 25 was $3.32 per gallon and the most expensive was $5.87 per gallon.
The average price of gas on Sept. 26 was $3.92 per gallon. Although the price is down 25.5 cents per gallon compared to last month, prices are still around 25 cents higher now than this time last year.
Average gas prices in the U.S. have risen 3.2 cents per gallon, averaging $3.67 gallons per day from this past week. This is down from 17.5 cents from about a month ago.
Current average gas prices in nearby towns: Peoria gas is $3.78 per gallon and St. Louis gas is $3.34 per gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, predicts that many issues with oil refineries will cause the gas prices to rise.

Prior to their time at the Star, they were the editor-in-chief of the Mastodon Art and Literature Magazine and the entertainment editor at their previous student newspaper. Outside their time at the Star, they like to visit museums and art galleries. They are also interested in obsessing over pop culture, Pokémon, and Dungeons & Dragons.
