This Is My Brave to host performances at Egyptian Theatre
DeKALB – The Egyptian Theatre will be hosting a night of performances dedicated to discussing mental health on Oct.13 at 7 p.m.
Brought to you by the DeKalb chapter of This Is My Brave, an organization that uses storytelling to talk about mental health, the proceeds of the show will go towards mental health services in DeKalb County.
The show will have ten performances by local community members each telling their own story of mental illness.
It will feature music from local artists Landon Ballard, Steve Deiss, Christopher Heimerman, Daerielle Balika and Ondrew. There will be poetry readings from Marsha Vaulx and Ashari Bird, an essay from JJ Wett, a story from JJ Celli and a pantomime performance from Danita Sims.
Tickets are available at the Egyptian Theatre website or through the Egyptian Theatre box office for $20, though a $5 discount is available for students and seniors.
For more information, visit the theatre’s website or follow This Is My Brave on their Facebook page or Instagram account.
“I want the audience to walk away with something to think about,” said director and performer Landon Ballard. “What you think about becomes what you talk about, and those conversations are where we start to get help and start to get healing.”
