DeKALB – The upcoming array of weekend events has NIU’s men’s and women’s soccer teams defend the home front while the other teams take to the road in search of more victories. Meanwhile, hockey craves its first win of 2022 in its fourth and fifth home games of the season.

The Huskies have a weekend of conference play with two games against a Mid-American Conference opponent. Ray Gooden and the Huskies currently sit at 10-3 overall with their first game of the weekend series against the Bulls at 6 p.m. Friday.

The Huskies continue their Mid-American Conference play this weekend following their first conference win against the University of Toledo in a 2-0 shutout. The Huskies currently have a record of 4-4-2 on the season and are 1-2 in conference play.

The Huskies continue their road trip as they head to Akron on Sunday to play the Zips. In their last matchup, NIU defeated Akron 2-1 on the road on Oct. 31, 2021. NIU currently has a record of 3-3-3 and sits in last place in the Mid-American Conference.

The Huskies begin MAC play taking on Ball State after two losses to Southeastern Conference teams. Both teams sit at 1-3 with Ball State coming off a shutout win against Murray State University. NIU currently sits at fourth in the MAC West and looks to get a win against a conference opponent.

NIU remains winless at 0-4, while Western Michigan comes in fresh off a victory over Lake Superior State University. They sit at 1-2. The Huskies will look to get their season on track against the Stallions.
Cross Country

Cross country competes in their third event of the season, traveling to Kentucky to race in the stacked Live at Louisville Classic. 44 different women’s teams will lace up for the weekend. Head coach Jamie Moreno is predicting to finally enter a fully healthy squad for the first time this season. After placing in the top-5 in their first two events, the Huskies look to continue showcasing solid results.
