DeKALB – Junior midfielder Claudia Muessig has secured her first Northern Star Huskie of the Week honor after scoring a goal in each of women’s soccer’s past two games.

Muessig, a native of Paw Paw, Michigan, posted NIU’s lone goal in its 4-1 loss to Ball State University on Thursday. The junior followed up another goal in the Huskies’ next match against Central Michigan University on Monday. Muessig recorded the first of NIU’s pair of goals to help secure women’s soccer’s first home win of the 2022 season.

Midway through her third season in DeKalb, Muessig has tallied 19 career starts and seven career goals. Her four goals made the far mark the most Muessig has logged in a single season.

Muessig and the Huskies will continue their season at 3 p.m. Thursday. NIU is set to face off with the Ohio University Bobcats at Chessa Field in Athens, Ohio. Live statistics for the game can be found on StatBroadcast.
