A Night at Holmes will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6 in the Holmes Student Center

NIU’s Campus Activities Board is hosting an event called “A Night at Holmes,” which will take place from 7 p.m to 11 p.m Thursday at the Holmes Student Center. There will be free food, prizes and other events happening throughout the night.

“Night at Holmes is happening during homecoming week,” said Elina Wlaznik, the assistant director of Campus Activities Board. “I think it is great for all students to come on out and have some Huskie pride. It’s a great alternative for students to get out of their rooms and find a sense of community.”

Join in on the karaoke event being held in Huskie Den by the Huskies After Dark Committee. After karaoke, make your way up to the Upper Den to participate in big games such as giant Jenga, Connect Four, Checkers and more.

After playing the big games, visit Laura Szymanski, a caricature artist, to get your portrait drawn outside the CAB location of the Student Center. Then, travel down the hall to the Oasis Lounge to participate in the Board Games event hosted by the NIU Tabletop Gaming Club.

Once finished with board games, leave the ground floor and make your way up to the main floor to the Gallery Lounge and participate in the bingo event hosted by the Liberated Minds Organization or the Crafts event in the Capitol room hosted by Daytime Craft Committee.

If you’re still looking for more to do, battle it out with laser tag located in the Duke Ellington Ballroom or attend the lip sync event being hosted by Phi Rho Eta Fraternity, Inc. located in the Carl Sandburg Auditorium.

“The thing I think is most special about A Night at Holmes is really getting a diverse population of students to attend a building filled with multiple events,” Wlaznik said. “It gives them the ability to find something that they are comfortable with doing by themselves or with a group of people.”

All events mentioned will take place throughout the whole event from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., Wlaznik said.
