Gas prices in the country have risen for the third week in a row, according to GasBuddy.
The price of gas in Illinois has risen by an average of 25.9 cents per gallon, averaging around $4.40 per gallon, according to GasBuddy. Illinois gas prices are up 95.8 cents per gallon compared to the same time a year ago.
Yesterday, the lowest price of gasoline in Illinois was $3.48 per gallon. The highest price of gasoline was $9.99 per gallon, $6.51 more than the lowest price, according to GasBuddy.
Across the nation, the average price of gasoline has risen 13.8 cents per gallon, averaging at $3.92 per gallon. National gas prices also are up 22.5 cents per gallon since last month and 67 cents per gallon compared to a year ago.
In Peoria, the current average of gas is $4.32 per gallon, and in Champaign, gasoline is $4.23 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.
According to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, prices have been surging due to OPEC+ cutting down oil production by two million barrels per day.
