NIU wrestling releases 2022-23 schedule
Huskies set to battle four in-state opponents
The NIU wrestling team has officially released its 2022-23 schedule , with head coach Ryan Ludwig leading an exciting year ahead of them.
The Huskies have a class of 11 newcomers coming into this season to be a part of the roster they signed this past offseason. The first look at them will be when the season kicks off on Oct. 28 with the annual Red and Black Dual.
The Huskies first real test will be the Michigan State Open, where there will be some of the top talent across the country coming to compete in the tournament.
NIU’s first home event will be Nov. 12 for the NIU Duals, where they will host Harper College and Lindenwood University at Victor E. Court.
The season ramps up when the Huskies compete in the Boilermaker Duals on Nov. 20, where they will take on Cleveland State University, the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and Purdue University. Then they will take on Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in the Cougar Clash on Dec. 4.
At the halfway point, the Huskies have some of their most important matches. They will kick off their Mid-American Conference competition with a road match against Kent State University on Dec. 18.
Then in January, NIU will face off against conference opponents Central Michigan University and Ohio University on Jan.13 and Jan. 20.
The MAC Championships will take place on March 3-4 in Fairfax, Virginia, and the NCAA Championships are set for March 16-18 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
