How The Try Guys became the tri guys
October 18, 2022
Over Labor Day weekend, Ned Fulmer, a member of the popular YouTube channel “The Try Guys,” was seen outside a nightclub engaging in romantic behavior with Alexandria Herring, one of the producers for the company.
Roughly a week after Internet users discovered Fulmer cheating on his wife with his company’s associate producer, Fulmer was permanently removed from the Try Guys.
The Try Guys
Fulmer is a former member of the comedic group The Try Guys who, as their name implies, try almost anything for their millions of subscribers. Fulmer’s affair reduced the quartet to a trio. The Try Guys now consists of Zach Kornfeld, Eugene Lee Yang and Keith Habersberger.
While working as producers at Buzzfeed, the comedy group released their first YouTube video together in 2014. The Try Guys created an independent production company, 2nd Try LLC, after they left Buzzfeed in 2018.
Since becoming a YouTube sensation, the group has published a self-help book titled “The Hidden Power of F*cking Up” which became a New York Times bestseller, created a podcast called “The TryPod” and won the Streamy Show of the Year award in 2018.
Ned Fulmer
Ned Fulmer is the husband to Ariel Fulmer and the father of their two kids. Ned and Ariel Fulmer have been married for 10 years; and in that time, Ariel became a part of the “Try Guys” family. She has a podcast with Habersberger’s wife Becky Habersberger and Kornfeld’s fiance Maggie Bustamante, called “You Can Sit With Us.”
In response to her husband cheating, Ariel Fulmer took to Instagram and posted a statement on Instagram asking for privacy for her and her family. It is not yet confirmed whether Ariel and Ned Fulmer will be separating.
The scandal
Last month, fans of the Try Guys began noticing that Fulmer wasn’t being included in Instagram photos and seemed to be cut out of YouTube videos. During Labor Day weekend, the Try Guys were alerted of Fulmer’s behavior by fans on Reddit, as stated on their podcast. As the photos and video of Fulmer cheating on his wife spread, fans quickly connected the dots.
On Sept. 27, The Try Guys posted an Instagram statement that said Ned Fulmer is no longer working with them. On Oct. 3, the remaining members released a YouTube video titled “what happened.”
In the video, the trio revealed that after they confronted their friend, Fulmer said that he had been having an affair with Herring for some time now. The trio said they were shocked and stated they moved swiftly in removing Fulmer from their company, spending three weeks working with their legal team.
In a recent podcast episode, The Try Guys explained that Fulmer will be cut from upcoming YouTube videos and that they will be carrying on creating videos as a trio.
Since the cheating scandal was addressed, The Try Guys have been back to posting normal videos on their YouTube channel and Instagram page.
