DeKALB – The second monkeypox vaccine clinic will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the Health Services Building. This clinic will provide the second dose to those who received the first dose at the clinic that took place on Sept. 26.

The JYNNEOS vaccine being provided is a two-dose vaccine given under the skin 28 days apart, according to Northwestern Medicine at NIU.

The vaccine is currently recommended for people with certain risk factors that make them more likely to be exposed to the virus. Some of these risks include anyone, regardless of sex, gender or sexual orientation, who had recent skin-to-skin or intimate contact with someone diagnosed with the monkeypox virus, any men who have had sex with other men, transgender or nonbinary people who have been diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease and any sexual partners of people with the previously mentioned risks, according to Northwestern Medicine at NIU.

Northwestern Medicine Regional Medical Group Student Health Center at NIU is currently offering the JYNNEOS vaccine by appointment only for students, faculty and staff. To schedule an appointment or inquire about clinic details, visit Northwestern Medicine’s website or call Health Services at 815-306-2777.
