The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

At 5:40 p.m., officers spoke with a complainant over the telephone who reported he was battered by a roommate earlier that day at a Spiros Court residence. Officers notified the NIU Police dDpartment while en route to speak to the complainant at DuSable Hall. Following investigation, Chanita S. Pratt-England, 22, was charged with two counts of domestic battery.

At 5:52 p.m., officers made contact with Gildardo Abarca, 36, at 220 Tilton Park Drive, where he was waiting to pick up his kids. Abarca’s name was run through dispatch and it was learned he had a valid warrant out of DuPage County for contempt of court. Abarca was arrested and transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office to await transport to DuPage County.

Monday

On Nov. 27 at 10:01 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the NIU Recreation Center in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Monday, the case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

On Saturday at 1:29 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Neptune East in regard to a report of an intoxicated individual. The officer arrived on scene and made contact with the individual. On Monday, Devonte L. Moore, 18, was arrested on a warrant for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was processed at the NIU Police Department and transported to the DeKalb County Jail.

At 9:11 a.m., officers on patrol of Still Gym made contact with an individual who had an active warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of obstructing/resisting a peace officer. Matthew Szymborski, 22, was arrested and processed at the NIU police department. He was released on $575 bond.

At 3:48 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the NIU Police Department to speak to a complainant via telephone regarding a report of theft. The officer took a report. The case is pending further investigation.
