Historian to talk secrecy, privacy

By Northern Star Staff | September 11, 2014

Historian Deborah Cohen will be a guest speaker for the 11th annual W. Bruce Lincoln Endowed Lecture Series 7 p.m. Sept. 29 in the Altgeld Hall Auditorium.

Cohen, the Peter B. Ritzma professor of the Humanities at Northwestern University and author of “Family Secrets: The Things We Tried to Hide,” will discuss the history of the relationship of secrecy and privacy and how the two ideas have split.

The lectures engage issues and are in the spirit of Lincoln’s research, writing and teaching.

The lecture series is free and open to the public. Call a representative at 815-753-0131 or email [email protected] for more information.
