  • At 2:40 a.m. Sunday, DeKalb Police observed a vehicle in the 1200 block of North Annie Glidden Road with no headlights on. After stopping the vehicle, police could smell alcohol on the driver's breath. The driver failed a sobriety test. After the vehicle was stopped, police saw leaking coming from the car and both airbags had deployed. Police learned the driver had struck a vehicle earlier and fled the scene. The driver was found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). Darryl D. McCollum, 33 of DeKalb, was arrested for DUI, DUI over .08, hit and run, improper lane usage and having no insurance. McCollum was sent to DeKalb County Jail pending bond.
