Elect10n profiles: Secretary of State

Name: Jesse White

Current Position: Secretary of State of Illinois.

Political affiliation: Democrat

Platform: As a democrat in Illinois, White has the advantage in the upcoming election against Robert Enriquez.

White has served three terms for Illinois and is hoping to be re-elected for his fourth. He is looking to improve upon the foundation that has been laid.

He has made Illinois roads safer by enacting tough DUI laws and reforming the truck driver licensing system.

“Fewer teens are dying on our roadways today because of the new teen driver safety laws we initiated and passed,” his campaign website states. “I’m proud of our record, but I’m not done yet. It is an honor for me to work for the people of Illinois and it is a responsibility that I never take for granted.”

 


 

 

Name: Robert Enriquez

Current Position: Robert Enriquez was appointed to a state mandated Republican seat on the Illinois Human Rights Commission in 2005.

Political affiliation: Republican

Platform: According to his campaign website, Enriquez “plans to audit and publish the Illinois Secretary of State’s Budget “On-Line” to avoid confusion.”

He also plans “to publish organizational chart, names and salaries in response to the questions of Patronage.”

Enriquez plans “to return savings as a fee rollback to Illinois drivers while reducing waste and costs.”

“It’s time we got serious about running a transparent government in Illinois,” his campaign website stated.

He plans on doing all of this while only serving two term.
