‘Women, Life and Freedom’ to discuss women’s struggle for freedom in Iran
The Presidential Commission on the Status of Women presents, “Women, Life and Freedom.”
This presentation will focus on women’s struggle for freedom in Iran. Check-in will be held from 11:30 a.m. to noon, and the program will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Capitol Room of the Holmes Student Center.
The presentation will be held by a panelist of women scholars from Iran, in which they will discuss their thoughts on events that have led to protests. They will also discuss the implications of these events.
Mehdi Semati, NIU journalism professor and chair of the Department of Communication, will moderate the presentation.
Panelists will include Shadi Dorosti, a graduate student of the department of public health, Mona Rahimi, an assistant professor of the department of computer science, Mina Rajaei Moghadam, a graduate student of the Department of English and Sahar Vahabzadeh, an assistant professor of the department of mechanical engineering.
The event is free and open to all NIU students, staff and faculty. Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are also welcomed.
