DeKALB — NIU’s women’s basketball team is teaming up with Safe Passage Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Crisis Center of DeKalb to host a Holiday Donation Drive during Saturday’s home game.

The Huskies and Safe Passage are requesting donations of items such as non-perishable foods and hygienic products to help those in need. All donations will be directed to Safe Passage.

Safe Passage asserts itself as DeKalb County’s lone domestic violence and sexual assault crisis center. The agency provides services including, but not limited to, counseling and advocacy for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors and their loved ones.

Those attending the game, a matchup with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, can bring their donations to the marketing table by Section 106 in the Convocation Center arena. Donations will also be accepted on the team’s Amazon shopping list as well as Safe Passage’s website.

Tip-off for the game is scheduled for noon. NIU will look to extend its current winning streak to nine games and earn its best start in 50 years.
