Each gymnast championed at least one event as NIU defeated MAC opponent Bowling Green State University on Sunday. The Huskies’ team score (194.725) served as the squad’s highest-scoring debut since 2017.

Sissi was named MAC Gymnast of the Week after scoring a career-best 39.175 in the all-around in her sophomore debut. Her combined score prevailed over each of Bowling Green’s four all-arounders. Sissi championed two events, notching a 9.825 on vault and finishing 9.850 on floor exercise, the latter ending in a three-way tie.

Hamp, a two-time MAC bars champion, kicked off her senior season with a meet-best score of 9.900 on the uneven parallel bars. Her score was the highest of any MAC gymnast in any discipline throughout the opening weekend.

NIU will return to action at 6:30 p.m. Saturday as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to take on Iowa State University.
