DeKALB – NIU women’s basketball senior guard Chelby Koker earned her second Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week of the 2022-23 season Wednesday following her pair of game performances this past week.

Koker previously earned the honor on Dec. 7, one of four times that Koker has been named the league’s top scholar- athlete. Koker, a health science-pre physical therapy major with a 3.974 GPA, had back-to-back scoring performances of 20 points or more during NIU’s games against Miami University and Eastern Michigan University.

Koker is the second student-athlete from the women’s basketball program to receive MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week this season. Koker’s teammate, senior forward A’Jah Davis, took home NIU’s first of the 2022-23 campaign after averaging double-doubles earlier this season.

The Huskies will return to the court at 1 p.m. Saturday as NIU hosts Bowling Green State University at the Convocation Center. The game will be available on ESPN3.
