Percussion concert to fundraise for local nonprofits
February 14, 2023
Arcomusical is hosting its annual Transformation Through Rhythm percussion concert to fundraise the 10th anniversary for Give DeKalb County.
The non-profit organization dedicated to spreading the knowledge and music of the berimbau, an Afro-Brazilian musical bow, will be performing with local percussion ensembles to raise funds for the 2023 GDC Bonus Pool.
Give DeKalb County is the 24-hour giving event that benefits almost 140 non-profit organizations set or serving in DeKalb. Nonprofits that support the total that DeKalb raises can receive up to 7% of the total amount back to their organizations from the GDC Bonus Pool.
“The Transformation Through Rhythm concerts bring together the perfect combination of music, community and helping support a cause,” founder of the concert, music therapist, and licensed counselor, Jen Conley said. “In previous years we held them as fundraisers for our local hospice, as well as a sister hospice in South Africa. I’m thrilled the concerts are being resumed, with the fundraising component supporting Give DeKalb County, thus benefiting all nonprofits in our county.”
The concert will feature the stylings of the Harambee Ensemble, the DeKalb High School Percussion Ensemble and the Northern Illinois University Percussion Ensemble as well as Arcomusical.
The percussion event will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 at DeKalb High School auditorium.
No tickets are required to attend and all donations will be collected digitally and at the event.
